"The role of a milk technician goes beyond simply monitoring milk quality among our cooperative members. We also need to support them in implementing solutions that address environmental challenges. That’s why all of Even Amont’s technical sales teams have been made aware of the need to combat climate change through a collaborative workshop using the Climate Fresk.In early 2024, milk technicians also received training in interpreting the Cap’2ER level 2 audit, which takes into account all greenhouse gas emissions from the farm.

The audits we carry out every two years as part of the Passion du Lait® good farming practices charter are an opportunity to discuss the farm’s carbon footprint with the producer and explore ways to improve it together. Areas for improvement may include reducing the age at first calving, optimizing the number of replacement heifers, substituting imported soybean meal in feed rations with locally produced rapeseed meal, planting hedgerows, installing a milk pre-cooler, and more.The recommended improvements should, as much as possible, combine environmental and economic benefits. We also make sure to inform producers if the investments they are considering are eligible for Even’s CSR fund, which supports best practices in decarbonization, among other initiatives."
