I have been a partner since 2003 in a GAEC (joint farming group) with Pascal, my partner, on a farm with 85 dairy cows where milking is done by a robot. We hired an employee last year to improve our working conditions. Until then, investments in modernizing the farm had been significant, and the milk price wasn’t always favorable. We held on because we’ve always believed in our profession and in the future of dairy production in our region. Today, we are more at ease, as the dairy market has improved. We were fortunate to join Even in 2015, during the merger with Armoricaine Laitière de Lanfains (22), which we had been members of following in the footsteps of Pascal’s parents. Even is a strong, solid, and reassuring cooperative. The board members speak the same language as us and share our concerns. Being myself a board member of a cooperative and a local elected official, I understand the significance of their commitment to the farmers they represent. Personally, I trust them to best defend our interests, especially in dealings with large retailers. We must continue to invest to remain competitive and move forward together in the same direction to make our cooperative project a success, while staying true to our values. I believe in it because Even is a modern and well-recognized company that has been proactive on important issues like sustainable development. Every year, we make use of Even’s CSR fund, which supports good agricultural practices. With it, we financed slurry spreading services using an injector and made improvements to our buildings for animal welfare, including the installation of an electric curtain.
